Which spring flowers for a spring wedding?

At Tante Fin we work with seasonal flowers, but which flowers are in "season" during spring?

Spring bloomers

It's mid-March, gardeners are gradually dreaming of a spring that occasionally shows its first rays of sunshine. But what can we find in the flower field on a fresh spring morning during this period of budding flower heads? In March, the first spring bloomers appear: crocuses, snowdrops, daffodils. Those are the early birds of the season.

You also have to be careful with daffodils in a bridal bouquet. The stems give off a sap that can be especially toxic to other flowers. That is why it is best to place the freshly picked daffodils in a bucket with fresh water. You let them release their juices in it for an hour. After that they are safe from a mixed wild bouquet.

The wedding season will start on April 1st

No, this is not a joke. At Tante Fin we work as much as possible with locally grown seasonal flowers. This means that we cannot provide wedding flowers between September 30 and April 1. Although we noticed in 2022 that the flower season continued to last due to the beautiful autumn weather, even into October. We love adding an eco-friendly touch to your wedding or a wild field bouquet look for your special day.

From April it will be the turn of tulips. A tulip is a beautiful flower to work with. They also exist in all kinds of colors! Especially their elegant stems make them beautiful in a hanging bridal bouquet. Did you know that a tulip continues to grow in the vase? Therefore, do not place them in too much water. This way they go into a growth spurt less quickly and they stay fresh longer.

April is also the blossom period par excellence. Blossoms are very fragile, but they give a very fairylike look to a wedding and give a beautiful and airy effect. Unfortunately, you cannot keep them in a vase for long. That's why they are all the more beautiful for a wedding!

Abundance from May

A very popular wedding flower is the peony. This is not the cheapest flower but a very romantic one. It is mainly available in pink tones, but also in white. Ranunculus are at least as romantic as fluffy. They grow from tubers and flower from May in the poly tunnel where they are well protected against wind and weather.
